Welcome to our branch
The Lutwyche branch of the OWNQ is a lively gathering of women over 50 who come together once a month to share stories, learn new things, foster meaningful connections and enjoy each other’s company. Located in Brisbane’s northside, this branch offers a welcoming space dedicated to friendship and fun.
The Lutwyche branch of OWNQ was established after an Information Session held at The Atrium, Lutwyche in August 2021. There were only 6 members initially and a slow start when Covid intervened and we were without a meeting venue. We now have over 30 members. The motto ‘Proud to be Ourselves’ is one that inspires us to be the best version of ourselves that we possibly can and we have flourished into a thriving community of like-minded women with a strong sense of camaraderie.
Members of the Lutwyche branch of OWNQ find joy in the lively conversations, shared laughter, and the excitement of learning together each month. This vibrant, supportive community fosters deep connections, combats social isolation and celebrates the achievements of older women. We also love watching our year unfold at our Christmas party with the video our wonderful Secretary produces of our exploits.
Our activities
We have engaging guest speakers at our monthly meetings and in addition, on the first Wednesday of the month, we plan something fun – whether it’s a coffee morning, a movie, a visit to a historic building, a museum tour, a lunch outing or whatever exciting opportunity comes our way.
We find the outings are a great way to get to know each other better in the smaller group setting, rather than the more formal meetings involving guest speakers.
We meet the third Wednesday of each month at 10.00 am at Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Foundation, 2/439 Lutwyche Road, Lutwyche. They provide their meeting room free of charge as their Secretariat / Director has said that the values and aims of OWN are similar to those of the Elders in their community.

Attend a local branch meeting to complete and sign the membership form and pay the $20 annual fee ($10 if joining between January and April). Membership is renewed each July at the start of the tax year.
