In addition to the regular branch meeting, Ipswich Branch has a Social Morning Tea on the second Tuesday of each month and a Social Lunch on the last Friday of each month. We also have a Novice Walking group which walks every Wednesday (except for the 3rd Wednesday of the month, meeting day) alongside the Bremer River from Bob Gamble Water Park starting at 9.30am & then over to Riverlink for an informal coffee/ tea & chat meeting at Doughnut King at 10.30am.  One of our members, Helen has recently started up a Book Club for Ipswich branch called Books and Banter which meets every second Monday at 2.00 pm at Chapters Bookshop & Cafe, Karalee Shopping Village.

MAROOCHYDORE

MITCHELTON

The Mitchelton Branch provides a warm and welcoming environment for women in north and north-west Brisbane. Our activities are designed to foster a sense of community and camaraderie, allowing members to connect in an informal manner at various venues throughout the area.

Weekly Gatherings

Frequency: At least weekly
Day: Typically on Tuesday mornings at 10am
Nature: These gatherings provide an excellent opportunity for women to come together casually, share stories, and build lasting friendships. It’s a relaxed setting where everyone can feel comfortable and connected. Venues vary to provide the opportunity to experience a selection of our local cafes.

Lunches at Local Restaurants

Frequency: Usually twice a month
Day: Typically one Saturday per month and following the Guest Speaker Meeting on the 4th Wednesday of the month.
Purpose: Enjoying delicious meals at local restaurants not only adds a delightful culinary aspect but also offers a chance for members to unwind, socialize, and explore different venues in the community.

Guest Speaker Meetings Followed by Lunch

Frequency: Monthly
Day: 4th Wednesday of each month
Format: These meetings feature engaging speakers who share interesting and valuable information on a variety of topics. It’s an enriching experience that adds an educational element to our gatherings.

Welcoming Visitors

Invitation: Visitors are encouraged to attend one or two events to experience the welcoming atmosphere and diverse activities the Mitchelton Branch offers. This provides an opportunity for potential members to decide if they would like to join OWNQ, ensuring that everyone feels comfortable and aligned with the group.

Meets third Wednesday each month at Wynnum Library (above Woolworths), 10.00-12.00

September

10th Tuesday – Fish and Chips at Lota Park.  Meet at 10.30am at Lota park   on the esplanade Lota. What to bring:  own chair, lunch, or nibbles  drinks  – can buy lunch- at fish shop around the corner. Wear clothing suited to the weather (warm – no wind I hope). Hat and sunscreen.

18th Wednesday – Branch Meeting 10.am -12md Wynnum Library. Fit in a game of Triva and our speaker will be  Marilyn Jacob from Pete’s Pantry.

November

7th Thursday – Train ride to Landsborough – Catch 8am train from Wynnum Central to Roma Street. Change trains and board the Sunshine Coast train going to Gympie North .   Visit the local shops and Museum also enjoy a  for a light lunch.  Home time, catch train either 2.06pm or 3.02pm to Central then change to the Cleveland line.  Wear walking shoes and dress for the climate. Bring hat and water bottle.

20th Wednesday –  Branch Meeting, Speaker Tess Rowley   -Speaker Trainer and Writer.

21st Thursday     Brain Training, Venue Wynnum Library Time 10am-11am, A library adult event.  Explore brain training in an easy and fun way through a range of technologies, games and quizzes.  Follow on with lunch if able. Café to be organised after the session.
